Gov't sends financial aid to BA province, calls for 'responsibility'
Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino.
Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino
confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the National Government will assist
the Buenos Aires province with AR$1 billion in financial aid, destined
to paying the salaries and bonuses of provincial government employees.
The minister also detailed that the province has so far received AR$4.3 billion in Government aid this year.
Lorenzino explained that the funds will be deposited “in a few days,” after Scioli’s government asked the Fernández de Kirchner administration for AR$2.8 billion in monetary aid in order to pay for salaries and bonuses on time.
Considering that the province needs AR$2.8 billion, it is unclear whether AR$1 billion will be enough for Scioli to be able to pay a bonus in time or whether he will have to pay it in two installments.
Only two days ago, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner made a public commitment to send the funds, although she called on governors to be responsible in the way they managed their assets.
“We will keep helping you like we’ve done since 2003. But you need to lear how to administer and look after your resources with the same skills this President has,” Fernández de Kirchner said.
