Government confirms CFK will visit Chávez in Cuba
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
The national government confirmed today that Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will travel to Cuba this week, where she will likely visit Hugo Chávez, although she is also expected to take part in a ‘virtual assumption’ ceremony for the leader in Caracas on Thursday.
The president of Venezuela’s National Assembly Diosdado Cabello called for “a grand gathering at the Miraflores Palace” in support of Chavez on Thursday, the day that he should assume his role as president for the 2013-2019 mandate, which he cannot due to him being in hospital in Havana.
Cabello assured that the event would include leaders from “friendly neighbouring countries”, who are to go to Venezuela to support Chávez, currently recovering after his fourth surgery for cancer.
